About Spequlo
Spequlo puts a fitting room on every product page
Spequlo (sometimes written Speculo) is a virtual try-on and AI sizing company for online fashion. A shopper uploads one photo, sees a garment on their own body, and gets the size that fits them, either on a brand's product page or in the Spequlo app. The company, Spequlo Technologies Inc., was founded at Carleton University in Ottawa and is based in Toronto.

What does Spequlo make?
Two products built on the same engine. For fashion brands, a try-on and sizing widget that sits on the product page: it installs from the Shopify App Store as a theme block, or with one script tag on WooCommerce, Squarespace and custom storefronts. For shoppers, the Spequlo app for iPhone, which tries on clothes from any store.
Both do two jobs and keep them separate on purpose. The try-on image shows how a garment looks on the shopper's body. The size recommendation compares the shopper's measurements with the brand's own size chart and says which size to order. A picture can't tell you whether a size 8 will be tight across the shoulders, so Spequlo doesn't pretend it can.
Why does Spequlo exist?
Because buying clothes online still means guessing. You can't see how a garment will sit on your body, so you order two sizes or you don't order at all, and whatever doesn't fit goes back. In PowerReviews' 2023 survey of U.S. shoppers, fit was the most common reason people returned clothes they had bought online.
Spequlo started from that frustration. Its founder was a software engineering student and a frequent online shopper, and set out to combine computer vision and generative AI so that a shopper could see the fit before paying for it.
Who is behind Spequlo?
Spequlo was founded by Divine Eyo, its CEO, who started the company as a Software Engineering student at Carleton University and developed it through the university's Innovation Hub in Ottawa. The company is Spequlo Technologies Inc., incorporated in Ontario and based in Toronto.
The team is small and builds the product itself: the widget, the sizing engine, the app and the pipeline behind every try-on. When a brand books a demo, they talk to the people who wrote the code.
How does Spequlo handle shopper photos?
Photos are stored privately and are deleted on request.
