Meta Ads + Spequlo
From Meta Ads to their own fitting room
Spequlo connects the journey from a Facebook or Instagram ad to virtual try-on on your product page. An ad link can open the fitting room as the shopper arrives, or you can test automatic opening against your usual product page. Shoppers see the product on their own photo, then continue shopping in your store.

What happens after a shopper clicks your ad?
Your ad brings someone to a product they like. Spequlo gives them a way to picture that product on themselves, using the photos already on your product page. The fitting room opens inside the storefront, so the shopper can try the garment and return to the same product rather than moving to a separate destination.
Use your existing product URL with the spequlo_open=tryon parameter to open the panel when the widget is ready. The shopper still chooses whether to provide a photo and generate a try-on. Opening the panel does not submit a photo or create a result for them.
Can you test the experience with Facebook and Instagram traffic?
Yes. The Spequlo dashboard includes a control called Test Spequlo with ad shoppers. Choose the share of eligible traffic that sees the fitting room open automatically; the rest sees the product page as usual, with Spequlo available to open manually. Start and stop the test from the dashboard.
The widget recognises traffic signals such as a Facebook click identifier, a Facebook or Instagram UTM source, or a referring Facebook or Instagram page. These signals can be missing, and a social referrer or UTM source can also come from an unpaid visit. The test covers detected Meta traffic rather than a verified list of paid ad clicks.
Compare purchasers and add-to-cart behaviour alongside completed try-ons. A panel that opens automatically will naturally get more opens; opens alone do not establish a better shopping experience or more sales.
Which try-on events are available on Shopify?
On Shopify storefronts where its analytics publisher is available, the widget publishes three custom events: spequlo:try_on_started when generation begins, spequlo:try_on_completed when a result is viewed, and spequlo:outfit_created when a complementary outfit generation completes. A panel open is not counted as a generation start.
These are events in Shopify's customer-event system. A receiving pixel or another configured integration must subscribe to them and forward them to Meta before they can be used there. Installing Spequlo alone does not establish that delivery. The bridge sends selected event and product details; it excludes shopper photos, body measurements and email addresses.
Does Spequlo connect directly to Meta Ads Manager?
The current capabilities work on your storefront: ad-link opening, a Meta-traffic experiment and the Shopify event bridge. Spequlo does not currently provide a direct Meta account connection, manage campaigns, change bidding or deliver these custom events through its own Conversions API connection.
Keep your existing Meta tracking setup for the events it already handles. If you want to build audiences or use try-on signals in Meta, first arrange the receiving integration and verify event delivery in your account. Those uses depend on that additional setup and your store's consent configuration.
How do you measure whether the landing experience helps?
Spequlo's experiment shows visitors, completed try-ons, add-to-cart activity, purchasers and orders for each group. These are storefront observations. They are not an Ads Manager report and do not calculate campaign spend, cost per acquisition or ROAS.
Browser storage, missing signals and cross-device shopping can affect which journeys are recognised. Use the same test period and a clearly defined visitor population for both groups. Review the results with those limits before deciding whether to keep automatic opening; there is no promised conversion lift.
Does this work with Shopify and other storefronts?
Ad-link opening and the Meta-traffic test are implemented in both the Shopify widget and the manual embed. The custom-event bridge described here uses Shopify's analytics publisher and is specific to Shopify. Other storefronts need their own event-delivery setup if they want to send try-on signals to Meta.
Start with a product that already has Spequlo enabled, check the experience on a phone, and choose between a direct ad link and an experiment. The setup guide walks through the two approaches and explains how to verify the Shopify events separately.
Questions, answered
- Do I need to change my Facebook or Instagram ad creative?
- No creative change is required. Direct opening uses the destination product URL. The dashboard experiment changes what happens on the product page after arrival.
- Does the Meta-traffic experiment run automatically?
- No. A merchant starts the test and chooses the share of detected Meta traffic that should see the panel open automatically. The merchant can stop the test from the dashboard.
- Does installing Spequlo send try-on events directly to Meta?
- No. On Shopify, Spequlo publishes custom events for a configured receiving pixel or integration to consume. Delivery to Meta needs separate setup and verification.
- Can I use this on a store outside Shopify?
- The manual embed supports ad-link opening and the Meta-traffic test. The Shopify custom-event bridge requires Shopify and does not provide event forwarding for other platforms.
- Will Spequlo improve my Meta Ads ROAS?
- There is no guaranteed ROAS improvement. Test the shopping experience against a control and evaluate purchases. Spequlo's experiment does not import ad spend or calculate ROAS.
