Spequlo vs GenLook
The GenLook alternative that also answers “which size?”
GenLook and Spequlo both put an AI try-on button on a Shopify product page: one shopper photo in, a picture of them wearing the garment out. The difference is what happens around that picture. Spequlo returns results faster, recommends a size from the shopper's own body measurements rather than a chart lookup, and reports the whole funnel through to the order. If your returns problem is fit, not just imagination, that is the part to compare.
| Spequlo | GenLook | |
|---|---|---|
| Try-on speed | Results in seconds | No published figure |
| Size recommendation | Estimated from the shopper's own body measurements, matched to your size chart | “AI size chart coming soon”, per its comparison pages |
| Analytics | Full funnel: views, try-ons, add-to-cart and orders, broken down by product and category | Impression to add-to-cart |
| Shopper photo handling | Private storage, never used to train models, deleted on request | Not stated on its listing |
| Email marketing | Native Klaviyo events for try-on and size-recommendation flows | Built-in lead capture |

What do GenLook and Spequlo have in common?
Both are generative try-on widgets for fashion. Neither needs 3D garment models, a photo shoot, or an engineer: install the Shopify app, enable the theme block, and the button appears on product pages. Both work from the product images you already have. Both are priced for independent brands rather than enterprise retailers.
So the honest answer to “which is better?” depends on what you want the try-on to do. If the goal is a fun visual and an email address, GenLook does that well. If the goal is fewer size-related returns, keep reading.
How does Spequlo handle sizing differently?
Most try-on tools show a shopper how a garment looks. Spequlo also tells them which size to buy. The shopper takes two guided photos, Spequlo estimates their measurements, and matches them against your size chart for that specific product. The recommendation appears next to the try-on result, with the reasoning.
GenLook lists an AI size chart as coming soon. Until it ships, a GenLook shopper still guesses at size the way they always have.
Which analytics do you actually get?
GenLook reports from impression to add-to-cart. Spequlo follows the shopper through to the order, so you can see try-on rate, add-to-cart rate and conversion for shoppers who tried on, per product and per category. That is the number your finance team asks for, and the one that tells you which categories the widget is earning its keep in.
How fast are the try-ons?
Speed is not a vanity metric on a product page. A shopper who waits half a minute for a picture has usually scrolled on. Spequlo returns try-ons in seconds on catalogues it has pre-processed, and pre-processing is automatic for every product the widget sees. GenLook does not publish a speed figure.
Where does GenLook have the edge?
GenLook's widget auto-detects more than fifty languages; Spequlo's widget is English today. GenLook also offers a free tier and supports several non-Shopify platforms. If either of those is a hard requirement, say so on the demo call and we will tell you straight whether Spequlo fits.
Switching from GenLook to Spequlo
Install Spequlo from the Shopify App Store, enable the theme block, and disable GenLook's block. Shoppers see one button. Your size charts are matched to products automatically; if a chart lives in a product description or a PDF, upload it once from the dashboard. Most brands are live the same afternoon.
Questions, answered
- Is Spequlo a drop-in replacement for GenLook?
- For the try-on button, yes: same product-page placement, same one-photo flow for shoppers. Spequlo adds the size recommendation and the order-level analytics on top.
- Does Spequlo need my size charts?
- It reads charts from your product pages and Shopify data automatically. If a chart is only in a PDF or an image, you can upload it once and Spequlo matches it to the right products.
- Do shoppers need to install anything?
- No. The try-on runs on the product page. A shopper taps the button, uploads one photo or picks a preset model, and sees the result on the same page. Nothing to download, no account to create.
- What happens to shopper photos?
- Photos are stored privately, are never used to train AI models, and are deleted on request. Brands can see aggregate analytics, not a shopper's photo library.
- Can I try it before switching?
- Yes. Try the shopper experience at spequlo.com/try, then book a demo and we will set the widget up on a staging copy of your theme so you can compare results on your own products.
